Jonas Staal / Organizational Art Workshop

Jonas Staal / Organizational Art Workshop

On Saturday 2 November, artist and propaganda researcher Jonas Staal will deliver a workshop for the students of the Athens School of Fine Arts at ViZ Laboratory for Visual Culture.

Organizational art describes the work of artists that use their artistic skills to create new forms of institutions, think of Tania Bruguera’s Immigrant Movement International or Ahmet Öğüt’s Silent University. In the work of these artists, alternative campaigns, schools and parties are both artworks and actual organizations, that try to rethink the infrastructures through which we shape our world. During this workshop, artist Jonas Staal – himself initiator of artist organizations such as the New World Summit – will give a short introduction into organizational art practices, and challenge participants to create new artist organizations of their own.

Attendance: ASFA students only
When: Saturday 2 November, 12:00 – 15:00
